Endangered Wise Men Studios was born in the mind of Richard “Rick” Leigh Grice in Jacksonville, FL  in 2008, while he was working as a sound engineer for another studio.

Rick worked his first few years in Jacksonville as a Studio/Sound Engineer, gaining incredibly valuable insights and technical knowledge under the studio’s Chief Engineer, Paul Lapinski.  (Lapinski, it should also be said, was already a multi-Platinum-album-holding local recording legend, as well as a pillar of the Jacksonville music scene with many years of experience; having recorded all types of music, including countless local and international talents.)

After leaving that studio in 2010, Rick spent the next few years recording music all over Jacksonville, periodically flying back and forth between coasts and the UK, tracking a variety of incredibly talented artists.

But it wasn’t until 2012, when Rick finally found what he’d been so desperately searching for, his “diamond in the rough;” a 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse in an industrial district.  This was where Rick, alongside his assistant Stone Shaefer, spent the next 5 years designing, renovating, and ultimately molding the space into an innovative, adaptable and state-of-the-art recording studio with two separate studios/rehearsal spaces, by combining a variety of elements; taking inspiration from everywhere from Feng Shui to percussive acoustics, without compromising anything in terms of vibe or sound; successfully creating a space which is fully capable of providing his stable of artists with “the full experience:” a perfect creative space in which to write, perform and apply their talents.

In 2017, the Endangered Wise Men Studios LLC was officially born.

In 2019, Rick was ecstatic to be able to officially welcome none-other-than his own former mentor and first boss, Paul Lapinski under the EWM umbrella.

Today, EWM Studios LLC, offers 6 state-of-the-art recording studios, artist lounge, rec room, kitchenette, and even shower and sleeping accommodations for visiting musicians.

With all of this to his credit, on December 20th 2021, Rick officially announced the launch of his next endeavor: Endangered Wise Men Music Group LLC, a full-service record label, recording studio, licensing and production company.
